White Air Extreme Sports 2006
(Oct 26th-29th)

White Air, is an international multi-sport festival

Windsurfing, Kitesurfing and Surfing make up some of the extreme watersports events whilst disciplines such as Mountain Boarding, Skate and BMX ensure an action-packed programme on land as well as water. The event is based at the ‘White Air’ village from October 26th - 29th on the seafront at Yaverland, near Sandown, on the Island’s East coast.

An even bigger day out (October 2006)

The Isle of Wight is well known for hosting big events, the Isle of Wight Festival and the bestival for example, and the next one is fast approaching!

The ‘Big Day Out’ takes place on Sunday 8 October 10.30am - 3.30pm at the Ventnor Botanical Gardens.

This free one-day event, which marks the start of Family Learning Week, is open to children, young people and families and is packed full of activities, information and entertainment.

The organising group, which includes young people from the island, has been working hard to get various bands performing on the day too. This year’s Big Day Out promises to be as lively as previous events, with plenty of events for all the family.

For more information, or if you would like to be involved, contact the Newport Connexions Centre on 01983 525927.

Reach Out With Research (October 2006)

Young people working to give others a voice.

Are you aged between 10 and 18? Do you want to have your say? If the answer is yes, then come to the Big Day Out at Ventnor Botanic Garden on Sunday 8 October, 10.30am to 3.30pm (visit www.iwight.com for more details). Help us to explore what young people think about adults who work with children and young people on the island, and find out more about your rights. If you can't make the Big Day Out and you still want to take part in the project then visit your local youth centre or phone Chris Cane on 533523 or e-mail: chris.cane@iow.gov.uk for a questionnaire.
